I went to see Captain America with a couple of friends recently. I really enjoyed it, in spite of never having read the comics (I have issues with reading far too fast and not dealing well with serialisations that means I tend not to read comics...) but I was left with a couple of minor brain-breaks.

Whenever I saw Howard Stark on screen, my brain insisted it was Lando Calrissian - I think it was the moustache plus the general demeanour. As you can imagine, this was rather distracting - and I now have a Captain America / Star Wars fusion stuck in my head. I may end up writing it. >.<

I'm also hoping that the movies ret-con canon so that Howard Stark is Tony Stark's grandfather, not father. Otherwise, given that the movies have Captain America being frozen in ice for 70 years, I'm going to have to deal with Tony Stark being the love child of a 60-70 year old Howard Stark and a much younger trophy wife. I'm not sure I'm quite up to coping with that! ^_~
I found one of my old notebooks today - apparently it's one that I used to make brief notes of ideas / dreams in. I wish I hadn't been quite so cryptic, though - I have no idea what "leery about taking to shore - dispute over who inherited raft. Smugglers? Horses?" means, although it sounds intriguing!

Less cryptic was the following fragment:

(Why do the translator microbes translate English, but not Klingon or (apparently) Spanish?)

"We don't take people away to study them!" The small grey alien exclaimed indignantly, then shuffled its feet. "Although... we, ah, did occasionally - um - borrow someone."

John raised his eyebrows. "Borrow?"

"We always put them back as soon as we were done!"
